The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian ambassador in Spain, Yuri Klimenko, on Tuesday to express the Spanish Government’s protest over the recent Russian offensive in Ukraine and the threats made from Moscow against diplomatic personnel in the Ukrainian capital.
Klimenko, as in other European capitals, was informed of “Spain’s strong protest against the recent indiscriminate attacks by Russia on Ukraine and the threatening warnings about massive attacks on military and political targets in Ukraine, which have included a call for foreign citizens and diplomatic personnel to leave the capital of the country.”
Foreign Affairs also reiterated the Government’s support for “the right to Ukraine’s legitimate defense” and again demanded that Russia “stop the aggression, respect International Humanitarian Law, and negotiate in good faith for a just and lasting peace.”
