On Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 PM, the China Cultural Center in Madrid (General Pardiñas Street, 73) presents the conference China and Europe in the New Era of the Automobile: Innovation, Cooperation, and Shared Investment, led by Oscar Prat van Thiel, an expert in economic and industrial cooperation between Europe and China.

The event will be spoken in Spanish and admission is free until full capacity is reached.

The automotive industry is undergoing the most profound transformation in its history. China has established itself as a global leader in electric mobility, batteries, and new technologies, while Europe maintains a reference position in engineering, industrial quality, and innovation. Far from a relationship based solely on competition, the sector is characterized today by increasing cooperation between manufacturers, suppliers, and investors from both continents.

The conference will analyze the evolution of this collaboration, from the historical alliances between Chinese and European manufacturers to the new industrial investments that are shaping the future of mobility. Special attention will be paid to the role of Spain as a platform for cooperation between China and Europe, highlighting recent projects in Catalonia, Aragon, the Valencian Community, Madrid, and Andalusia, as well as the opportunities that arise for companies, territories, and training centers.

The speaker, Oscar Prat van Thiel, worked for over a decade closely with institutions and companies from the Land of Baden-Württemberg, one of the most advanced industrial regions in Europe and home to some of the world’s leading references in automotive, engineering, and technological innovation.

With more than 18 years of professional experience in China, he has developed internationalization, business development, and innovation projects among public entities, companies, universities, and vocational training centers in Europe and Asia. He is currently the Director of the European Office of Innovation Fair China, President of WSDA – Sino-European Alliance for Vocational Training, and a senior expert in international cooperation programs funded by the European Union.

From Brussels, he works on creating bridges of cooperation between Europe and China in areas such as mobility, advanced industry, energy transition, technological innovation, and talent development.
