Exposición sobre el drama de la migración en el Museo Nacional de Antropología

As part of the (In)visible Anthropology Showcase program, the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Madrid (68 Alfonso XII Street) hosts the exhibition Migration. Stories of Movement, Belonging, and Transformation.

This exhibition, which will be open until February 1, 2027, delves into various experiences of migration and displacement through objects and images that speak of waits, breaks, and transformations.

Throughout history, people have moved for various reasons, whether out of necessity, by imposition, or to seek new opportunities. Migration has been a constant in human experience, but it has not always been experienced in the same way. Mobility is affected by economic inequalities, political decisions, colonial legacies, and administrative borders that condition who can move, how, and under what circumstances.

Beyond conceiving migration solely as an experience of loss, these experiences allow for the visibility of the processes of adaptation, innovation, and recomposition that accompany displacement. Migration leaves persistent marks on ways of life, on connections with the environment, and on the configuration of identities. In this transit, people reconfigure practices, preserve memories, and generate new ways of inhabiting the world, giving rise to plural and dynamic identities that continue to impact the present.
