The Spanish Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, visited Belgrade to present the Military Merit Cross with Yellow Ribbon to the widow of Serbian soldier Milovan Jovanovic, who recently passed away during his mission in Marjayoun, under Spanish command.

During her visit, Robles highlighted the importance of the work of the blue helmets in Lebanon, where the mission has faced significant challenges. Despite the instability in the region, the cooperation between the Armed Forces of Spain and Serbia has focused on the defense of peace and stability, working under the umbrella of the United Nations. The future of Lebanon after the completion of the mission, at the end of this year, has been one of the topics addressed in the meetings of the Minister of Defense with the Serbian president and her counterpart.

In addition to cooperation in peace missions such as UNIFIL and Atalanta since 2010, Spain and Serbia have established agreements in military training, including the Military Parachuting School in Alcantarilla. Robles also emphasized the potential of the Spanish industry to assist Serbia in modernizing its military capabilities, thus underscoring the commitment of both countries towards a safer and more collaborative future in the Middle East.
