The Secretary of State for Defense, Amparo Valcarce, led the Spanish delegation at the ‘NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum’ (NSDIF), which took place at the ATO Congresium in Ankara. This event is part of the NATO Summit and brought together government officials, representatives of the Alliance, and leaders of the defense industry with the aim of strengthening a more robust and innovative allied industrial base, capable of responding quickly to NATO’s capability needs.
The Spanish delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Defense and companies such as Escribano M&E, GMV, Hisdesat, Indra, Instalaza, Navantia, Grupo Oesía, and TEDAE. During the forum, Valcarce highlighted the relevance of the defense industry as an essential pillar for allied deterrence and the technological autonomy of the Armed Forces. “A strong, innovative, and resilient industrial base is an indispensable condition for credible defense,” she emphasized.
The NSDIF included sessions on industrial preparedness, collaboration between governments and industries, and improvements in supply chains. Spain also committed to participating in key NATO projects, such as the persistent surveillance program from space, and to strengthening interoperability in flight crew training. With its active participation in Ankara, Spain reaffirms its commitment to a more prepared and technologically advanced NATO.
