The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, arrived yesterday in Warsaw with the aim of closely understanding the contributions of Spanish engineering and public works companies in the development of infrastructure and transport networks in Poland.

During his visit, Puente met with representatives of important companies such as Adif, Renfe, Acciona, and Talgo, among others, to discuss the projects they are involved in and the challenges they face in the country.

In one of the meetings, the Spanish minister emphasized the significant local involvement of these companies in one of the European countries that has advanced the most in infrastructure. He mentioned the development of the high-speed network and the construction of new airports as examples where Spanish companies can contribute their knowledge and experience.

Subsequently, Puente met with Dariusz Klimczak, Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, and Eliza Zeidler, Secretary of State of the Ministry of State Assets. In this meeting, topics of common interest in the field of transport were discussed, such as the impact of the agreement between the European Union and Ukraine, as well as the liberalization of the sector. With the ambitious railway and air development program that Poland is carrying out, significant opportunities for Spanish companies are anticipated in strategic projects, such as the state-owned Port Polska, which plans an investment of 32.2 billion euros by 2035, and with which Poland seeks to position itself as a hub for transport in Central and Eastern Europe thanks to a new airport near Warsaw with a capacity of up to 44 million passengers and a new high-speed network of 500 kilometers.

According to sources from Moncloa, after the meeting with the two Polish leaders, Óscar Puente wanted to highlight the climate of understanding between both countries, which will continue to be fostered to support the internationalization and strategic presence of Spanish companies.
