The Social Security in Spain has reached a new record in the affiliation of foreigners, totaling 3,446,178 affiliates in June. This number represents an increase of 86,630 employed compared to the previous month and 350,163 more than in the same period last year.

The year-on-year variation stands at 11.31%, while the overall growth of affiliation has been 2.8%.

The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, Elma Saiz, highlighted that the affiliation of foreign workers is crucial for strategic sectors such as agriculture, construction, and healthcare. Since June 2022, the number of foreign affiliates has increased by more than 980,000, and 44.5% of the jobs created since the labor reform correspond to these workers. By the end of June, 159,097 affiliates were registered thanks to the regularization process of foreigners, mostly in the General Regime of Social Security.

In terms of gender, nearly two million of the affiliates are men, while women total nearly 1.5 million, representing 43% of the total foreign workers. Among the main countries of origin, Morocco, Romania, and Colombia stand out with more than 422,000, 353,000, and 316,000 affiliates, respectively. Additionally, a remarkable 87.8% of foreign workers have permanent contracts, and their presence in high-skilled sectors, such as telecommunications and computer programming, continues to rise.
