The Ministry of Culture and Spanish Cultural Action has revealed the details of the program that Spain will carry out as the Guest of Honor at the International Book Fair of São Paulo, which will take place from September 4 to 13, 2026.

Under the slogan ‘Confluences’, this participation aims to project the Spanish publishing sector at one of the most relevant literary fairs in the world. The coordination of this important representation falls on the General Directorate of Books, Comics, and Reading, with the support of various institutions such as the Cervantes Institute and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).

During a presentation event at the Archive of the Crown of Aragon in Barcelona, the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, emphasized that Spain’s presence at the Biennial is a fundamental milestone for the country’s publishing industry. He also highlighted that this opportunity not only strengthens literary creation but also promotes intercultural dialogue and cooperation between Spain and Brazil, in a context where linguistic diversity and internationalization are becoming increasingly important.

The Spanish pavilion, which will occupy a space of 500 m2 in the Anhembi District venue, has been designed by PeiPe Estudio SL. Inspired by the mosaics of artist Roberto Burle Marx, the pavilion is conceived as a dynamic space that will reflect the diversity of contemporary Spanish literature. The program will include a series of cultural activities, such as poetic evenings, photography exhibitions, and concerts, as well as workshops and masterclasses to encourage interaction with the general public.
