The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain has launched the Young Delegates Program at the United Nations, an initiative that seeks to strengthen the participation of young Spaniards in the international agenda.
This program, in collaboration with the Youth Institute (INJUVE) and the Youth Council of Spain (CJE), aims to promote the inclusion of youth in discussions on sustainable development, human rights, and global policies.
Among the program’s purposes is to inform young people about how the UN operates, facilitate their participation in the development of the multilateral agenda, and fulfill the commitments of Resolution 2250 (2015) on Youth, Peace, and Security. To date, the Young Delegates have had the opportunity to intervene in important forums such as the Human Rights Council in Geneva and the Youth Forum of the Economic and Social Council in New York.
In addition, the European dimension plays a crucial role in Spain’s external action regarding youth, highlighting the Erasmus+ program, which has transformed academic mobility in Europe since its creation in 1987. This program, along with the EU Youth Strategy, seeks to ensure that youth have the necessary resources to fully participate in society, as well as to promote their social and civic engagement.
