The Pakistani film Nayab, directed by Umair Nasir Ali, will be screened next Thursday, September 3rd at the Mk2. Palacio de Hielo in Madrid (Silvano Street, 77), at 7 PM, as part of the Pakistan Film Festival.
Nayab tells how in the bustling heart of Karachi, a determined girl harbors the dream of breaking stereotypes and playing cricket for Pakistan, while her brother, once a rising star, grapples with his past. As they navigate the gritty world of the local cricket scene, their unbreakable bond and the chaotic past of the city become their greatest allies in this deeply Pakistani story of ambition, resilience, and family.
The film stars Yumna Zaidi, Jawed Sheikh and Fawad Khan, among others. Free entry with prior registration at this link. The screening will be in Original Version with Spanish subtitles (VOSE).
The film was announced by Kenneyz Group on January 4, 2023, in collaboration with NUM Films. Umair Nasir Ali, the director, made his debut role. Although Yumna Zaidi, who played the main character, turned down many films that were offered to her, she said it was interesting not to reject the role as this film has a better plot. For the shooting, she attended many cricket tutorials and practices, and continued filming after Tere Bin. The motion poster and trailer were released on December 2 and 10, 2023, respectively.
