The Czech type foundry Displaay, at the Libros Mutantes 2026 festival

The Centro Checo of Madrid informs that the Czech studio Displaay Type Foundry is one of the guests at the most international edition to date of Libros Mutantes 2026, which will be held from April 24 to 26 at La Casa Encendida (Madrid). The studio will participate with a talk and a stand at the fair.

Libros Mutantes is an independent project founded in Madrid in 2010. Its curators, Ricardo Juárez and Sergio Landazuri, have built a platform that promotes self-publishing and connects global creative communities through fairs, exhibitions, and talks. Its philosophy emphasizes the tangible – the book as a physical object – against the ephemeral digital experience.

During these three days, La Casa Encendida transforms into a meeting space where publications, design, typography, and contemporary editorial practices coexist.

The participation of Displaay Type Foundry brings a Czech perspective to an event that celebrates new forms of visual language. This independent studio based in Prague, focused on the design and development of contemporary typefaces and their application in the editorial field and visual culture, will be represented by Martin Vácha and Andrea Vacovská. Both will present the work of the foundry, whose alphabets and typographic experiments are used by creative studios, cultural institutions, and brands from around the world.

In addition, Displaay will participate in the program with the talk “Naming a Typeface,” in which they will address the process of naming a typeface and the conceptual decisions that accompany typographic design.

Throughout the weekend, they will also be present with a booth at the fair, where they will present and sell their publications and materials, with a team of three representatives from the studio traveling to Madrid for the occasion.

The festival will offer an open program with presentations, meetings, exhibition spaces, and a publishing fair that brings together very diverse proposals selected through an open call. The programming unfolds continuously in different spaces of the building, where the fair, talks, workshops, and music coexist simultaneously throughout the weekend. In previous editions, projects from Europe, America, and Asia participated, showcasing the vitality and diversity of contemporary independent publishing. This time, Libros Mutantes 2026 will be the largest edition to date, with more than 50% of international exhibitors and the inclusion of countries participating for the first time.

All event information, including the complete program, can be found on the official website of Libros Mutantes and on the website of La Casa Encendida.
