América Latina bajo presión

Tomorrow, Thursday, May 7, starting at 10 a.m., the conversation Latin America under pressure: causes, realities, and solutions to insecurity, organized by the diplomatic cultural headquarters along with the Fundación Carolina, will take place in the Simón Bolívar Room of Casa América. Entry with registration here: estudiosyanalisis@fundacioncarolina.es.

The meeting will analyze the transformations of insecurity in the region from a multidimensional approach, addressing structural factors such as inequality, institutional weakness, and territorial dynamics, as well as the mutation of organized crime in contexts of transnationalization. It will also examine the interrelation between violence, youth, and social exclusion, along with the role of the media in shaping perceptions and interpretative frameworks about insecurity.

The day will bring together institutional leaders, academics, and professionals from security and journalism with the aim of fostering an informed dialogue based on evidence and comparative analysis. The seminar aims to formulate public policy responses for prevention, strengthening the rule of law, and regional cooperation, incorporating good practices and lessons learned. The program will include thematic tables and discussion spaces aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of interventions in citizen security, as well as the impact of institutional reforms in high-conflict contexts. Likewise, challenges associated with inter-agency coordination, judicial and police cooperation, and the use of technologies for crime prevention will be addressed.
