The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, emphasized this week, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the agreement with the Exporters’ Club, that in an interdependent but fragmented world, economic diplomacy and public diplomacy are essential tools to unite the political and the economic, as well as the public and the private.
The minister emphasized that Spain must adopt a coherent and ambitious foreign action that combines the strength of diplomacy with business capacity and societal involvement, during the celebration of the program “Meetings with ambassadors,” held in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, which aims to promote the exchange of ideas and experiences among entrepreneurs, sector associations, and Spanish ambassadors abroad.
During the event, a report titled “The role of economic diplomacy in current times. Functions, challenges, and recommendations” was presented. This analysis, driven by the Exporters’ Club and subsidized by the Secretary of State for Foreign and Global Affairs, examines the growing relevance of economic diplomacy in an international context characterized by uncertainty and geopolitical fragmentation, as well as the increasing competition among states.
