The Spanish external sector continues to show outstanding performance, with a year-on-year increase in exports of 5.3% in June 2026, according to the Monthly Foreign Trade Report from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business.
In this month of June, goods exports reached a record figure of 35.545 million euros, establishing a new historical maximum for this date.
Energy exports were the most significant, recording an astonishing increase of 49.9%, which has allowed Spain to maintain its exports despite the rise in energy prices. Non-energy exports also showed solid growth of 2.4%, reflecting the ability of Spanish companies to compete in international markets, even in a complicated global context.
In terms of imports, Spain reached a historical maximum of 43.232 million euros, representing an increase of 15.7%. This has led to a trade deficit of 7.686 million euros in June, a considerable increase compared to the previous year. Despite this deficit, the overall outlook for Spanish foreign trade remains positive, with an increase in the number of regular exporters and a surplus in key sectors such as food and beverages.
