EUNIC Design presents next Wednesday at 7:30 PM at the Casa del Lector in Matadero Madrid (Paseo de la Chopera, 14) the exhibition Europe Illustrates. Free entry until full capacity.

Europe Illustrates, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary European illustration, celebrates a new edition with the participation of Czech illustrator and graphic designer Jindřich Janíček and his work Bicis: The transport of the future (in the photo), a book created together with writer Ondřej Buddeus and published in Spanish by the publisher Libros del Zorro Rojo.

The work explores the bicycle as a symbol of freedom, movement, and everyday life through illustrations and brief texts that combine humor, observation, and visual sensitivity. The book proposes a poetic and playful look at an everyday object that influences our way of moving, perceiving the city, and relating to public space.

The inauguration will bring together illustrators, cultural representatives, and the public interested in contemporary illustration. The exhibition will feature artists from eleven European countries and will be open for visits until the end of September at the Casa del Lector. The inaugural event will include illustrators Anna Horak (Austria), Miila Westin (Finland), Pauline Barzilaï (France), and Gaya Wisniewski (Wallonia-Brussels). During the event, local products from the participating countries will also be available for tasting.

Jindřich Janíček belongs to the most recognized generation of contemporary Czech illustrators. He has received the Czech Grand Design award twice and is the author of several books and comics translated into Spanish, German, or Korean. Among his most well-known works are the documentary comic B as a runner and the illustrated diary Westward with the northwest line. In addition to editorial illustration and comics, he also works in graphic design and is a co-founder of the publisher Take Take Take.
