The Embassy of Uruguay organizes next Thursday, June 4th at 8 PM the event The humor according to Benedetti (and other forms of resistance).
The event, which will take place at the Ibero-American Pavilion of the Madrid Book Fair, proposes a journey through the author’s work to explore humor as an active critical and political tool in his writing, revealing how between ironies and subtleties Benedetti built a deeply human form of resistance that continues to engage with current readers. Carmen Posadas and Jorge Olivera will participate in the event.
Carmen Posadas, renowned Hispanic-Uruguayan writer and columnist, won the prestigious Planeta Prize in 1998 for her acclaimed novel Little Infamies. Her extensive and versatile career spans more than a dozen novels, biographies, film and television scripts, and over fifteen children’s literature books.
Jorge Olivera-Olivera (Uruguayan academic) is a professor and specialist in Hispanic American literature based in Spain. He is a teacher and researcher in the Department of Hispanic Literatures and Bibliography at the Complutense University of Madrid.
