Promoted by the NGO Rescate, Casa América brings together from tomorrow Saturday until June 13 the works of nine internationally recognized photographers in the exhibition In Their Skin. Perspectives on Integration, about the reality of refugees.
The selection of images by Diego Ibarra, Xavier Miserachs, Santi Palacios, Juan Manuel Castro Prieto, Matías Costa, César Dezfuli, Irene Zottola, Sebastián Bruno and Carmen Secanella, of strong journalistic value, is joined by the curation of photographer Samuel Aranda.
At a time of great social debate about people seeking international protection, this exhibition provides a different cultural and social perspective from the usual, thanks to the vision of these professionals who portray the journey and arrival of refugees. Their approach combines informative interest, visual quality, and social relevance. All of them have lived firsthand the stories collected here. For years, they have been present in contexts marked by displacement, loss, fear, and hope, capturing with their cameras difficult realities that often remain far from our everyday gaze. But their contribution goes far beyond visual testimony: behind each image is time, closeness, respect, and a way of looking that always centers on the dignity of people.
With more than 60 years of history, NGO Rescate is a Spanish organization dedicated to supporting refugees, displaced persons, and victims of conflicts and natural disasters so they can rebuild their lives and access their fundamental rights. Its intervention pays special attention to women and children, both in countries of origin and in destination countries. In recent years, most of the people welcomed in its centers have come from Venezuela, Colombia, Ukraine, and Syria.
