Paraguay, can a country continue to exist outside of its geography?

El Paraguay que llevamos dentro

The meeting Can a country continue to exist outside its geography?, the third and final session of the cycle ‘Techaga’ú / Nostalgia that brings a country’, organized by Casa de América and the Embassy of Paraguay, aims to publicly close a stage of documentary research initiated in Spain around this central question.

The event will take place tomorrow Thursday at 18:30 in the Miguel de Cervantes Room of Casa América. Free entry until full capacity.

Throughout the cycle, different voices have been bringing possible answers. Paraguay appeared in memory, in language, in music, in work, in love, in affections, in the way of caring and in the way of sustaining community far from the territory.

In this last session at Casa de América, a symbolic space of the project, the aim is to continue searching for those answers. Not from an abstract idea, but from a concrete presence in the lives of those who carry it within: Paraguayans who built their path in Spain and Spaniards deeply marked by the country.

The session will pay special attention to solidarity as a way of being Paraguayan and a way of being in the world. From medical service, social commitment, professional trajectory, cultural creation, and emotional ties with Paraguay, the guests will contribute new strokes to a choral portrait that is not closed but remains open to continue its exploration in the documentary Techaga’u Guive.

After some welcoming words from Moisés Morera, programming director of Casa de América, and Doris Román, minister of the Embassy of Paraguay, the event will feature Gustavo Denis, Paraguayan creative strategist, specialist in fashion, beauty, luxury, and international communication; Nelson Alvarenga, Paraguayan cardiologist residing in Spain; Alice Acuña, Paraguayan executive in the energy sector with international experience; Father José María García, Spanish priest of the Schoenstatt community, and Carolina Sánchez de Movellán, founder of Sol&Luna. The event will be moderated by María Victoria Ramírez Jou, Paraguayan communicator and producer.
