The next Friday, June 26 at 5 PM, the book 80 years of the UN, what needs to change will be presented at the Instituto Cultural de México in Spain, with research and editing coordinated by the Mexican academic María Cristina Rosa (in the photo).

The book sheds light on the efforts and achievements made by the United Nations during this period and reflects on the structural political and financial obstacles, among others, that hinder following the same pattern. Authors facing the change dominated by geopolitics and vested interests ponder the search for actions that will bring about a better future for humanity.

The 24 authors who complete this book analyze the functioning of the United Nations from its fundamental organs, through the aspirants/hopefuls to enter the Security Council, and reviewing the new challenges and agendas that the UN must face, including new technologies, artificial intelligence, transnational companies, intelligence services, environmental agenda, international cooperation, human rights, among others.

Participating in the presentation will be María Cristina Rosa, coordinator of the book, researcher professor at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and president of the Olof Palme Center; Sergio de Ávila, translator of the book and professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid; and José Julio Fernández Rodríguez, co-author of the book, professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela and director of its security studies center SEGG.

The presentation and comments will be led by Everardo Corona, ambassador of Mexico in retirement, and Jorge Nuño Jiménez, retired colonel of the Presidential General Staff.
