El hijo de la cómica

The great Spanish actor José Sacristán returns to the stage with El hijo de la cómica (The Son of the Comedian), which he stars in, adapts, and directs, and which arrives at the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid until next June 28.

The play, produced by Pentación Espectáculos, is an adaptation of the first part of The Yellow Time, the memoirs in which the brilliant actor, director, and writer Fernando Fernán-Gómez narrates his life, from his birth to the last decades of the 20th century, reflecting the history of contemporary Spain, cinema, and theater.⁣

The Son of the Comedian is an intimate and moving tribute that José Sacristán pays to his friend, exploring the early years of Fernán Gómez, his childhood and adolescence in a family environment particularly marked by his great-grandmother, his grandmother, and his mother.⁣

In the words of Sacristán himself, “if the writer Delibes taught me to look, the comedian Fernán-Gómez taught me to listen. For several years I had the privilege of being close to him and listening to him. Listening to him, among other things, the story of Fernanda López, “the blonde,” his great-grandmother, from whom he inherited the hair color and who was from Valdelaguna, a village next to Chinchón, mine. And of Carolina Gómez, a seamstress, the grandmother who took care of his childhood like Natividad López, her tasks, took care of mine.”⁣

After its absolute premiere at the Teatro Palacio Valdés in Avilés and after succeeding in major theaters across Spain during its tour, The Son of the Comedian arrives at the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid, tickets can be purchased at this link.
