The Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas of Angola, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, presented yesterday at the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Madrid the geological potential of Angola and described the regulatory framework to attract foreign investment during the Angola-Spain Business and Investment Forum.

During the day —which was attended by institutional representatives, companies, and experts from the extractive sector— the possibilities offered by the diamond industry, the logistical corridors of Luanda, Lobito, and Moçâmedes, and the European financing instruments for projects related to strategic raw materials were also analyzed.

Specifically, the Angolan minister, accompanied by the ambassador in Spain, Balbina Malheiros Dias da Silva, presented to Spanish investors seven projects related to the exploitation of large kimberlite and alluvial diamond deposits in Chifuca, Dala, and Satchifunga (in the province of Lunda Sul); Mulepe and Chitamba (Lunda Norte); Lemba (in Malanje); and Moirige (Cuanza Sul).

During the institutional opening, the president of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, Ángel Asensio, highlighted the growing interest that Angola arouses among Spanish companies and the opportunities it offers in areas such as mining, energy, infrastructure, engineering, information technologies, the environment, and specialized services.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed the possibilities of collaboration with local partners and the role of public-private partnerships in the development of business projects linked to the mining sector and strategic value chains.

The day concluded with a round table moderated by Juan Carlos Rodríguez-Ovejero, Senior Advisor in Extractive Industries at SATEC, followed by a networking space between companies and institutions.
