The days June 2 and 3, Spain will host in Madrid the V Ministerial Conference on Feminist Foreign Policy: building peace and democracy, a high-level global meeting dedicated to feminist foreign policy, women’s rights, and gender equality.
The Conference, which will take place at the main headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, will mobilize more than 700 people, including foreign ministers, representatives of international organizations, philanthropic organizations, civil society, and feminist movements, around a common goal: the promotion of equality, freedom, and dignity of women and girls worldwide, as an essential basis for peace, justice, and democracy.
Under the slogan Building peace and democracy, the meeting is envisioned as an opportunity to consolidate a diverse coalition of states committed to gender equality and sustainable development, and also as a space to raise awareness about adopting a feminist foreign policy, in an international context marked by conflicts, democratic backsliding, and increasing inequalities.
Furthermore, this conference seeks to promote concrete political commitments, share good practices, and promote innovative and transformative initiatives.
The event will also be based on Spain’s leadership of the IV International Conference on Financing for Development, held in June 2025. It will explore and strengthen the links between global and regional agendas for gender equality, human rights, democracy, development, revitalized, robust, and inclusive multilateralism, and the reaffirmation of the values and principles of the United Nations Charter.
Participation in the Conference will be exclusively by express invitation, issued by the organization to the authorities and designated individuals. Given the nature of the meeting and the limited capacity, access will be restricted to the officially invited delegations, institutions, and organizations.
