The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosario Sánchez, has led a meeting of the working group of the Interministerial Tourism Commission, where the preparation of the Biennial Plan 2026-2027 was discussed.
This plan is part of the Spain Tourism Strategy 2030, which prioritizes the measures and instruments to be developed in the next two years to strengthen tourism in Spain.
Sánchez emphasized that the deployment of this strategy is essential to position the country as a leader in sustainable tourism globally, addressing sustainability from environmental, social, and economic dimensions. The strategy includes a total of 50 measures and 148 instruments that must be implemented by 18 of the 22 ministries of the Spanish Government.
Among the highlighted actions, the Biennial Plan proposes the creation of a crisis committee to respond to emergency situations in the tourism sector, as well as initiatives to improve energy efficiency and support the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Additionally, a Tourism Intensity Atlas will be developed to facilitate decision-making on tourist flows, all in an effort to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the tourism industry in the country.
