Valentín Díez Morodo, president and patron of the Fundación Casa de México in Spain, received the Medal of Honor from the city of Madrid 2026, a recognition of a lifetime dedicated to strengthening cultural, business, and social ties between Mexico and Spain.
The distinction, awarded on May 15 during the San Isidro festivities by the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, recognizes his philanthropic work and his contribution to strengthening the links between Mexico and Spain.
During his speech, Díez Morodo emphasized that Spain and Mexico “do not understand each other without the other” and dedicated the award to those who work to build bridges between both nations.
The Foundation expresses in its statement that “this recognition also honors the vision that drove this great project: a space born with the mission of sharing in Spain the best of Mexican culture, talent, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit, while strengthening the historic bonds of friendship between both countries.”
“Valentín Diez Morodo, continues the Foundation’s information, has made this bridge between Mexico and Spain a constant, generous, and profoundly human endeavor. Today we celebrate his legacy, his commitment, and the impact he has left on so many people and institutions on both sides of the Atlantic.”
