Spain receives 11.1 million international passengers in May, 5.8% more

Of these tourists, 86.9% came from Europe; 8.6% from America, and only 1.9% came from Asia

According to the data published by Turespaña, during the past month of May, Spain received a total of 11.1 million international air passengers, which represents an increase of 5.8% compared to the same month of the previous year,

Of this flow of passengers, 86.9% came from Europe, with a growth of 6.5% compared to May 2025. Passengers from America reached 8.6%, increasing by 7.6%, while air traffic from Asia, which represents only 1.9% of the total, suffered a decrease of 17.1%.

In the accumulated total for the first five months of the year, Spain has received nearly 43.5 million international passengers, which equates to a growth of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2025, resulting in 2.2 million additional arrivals. Also during the month of May, an increase in arrivals of passengers from the main source markets was observed, highlighting the growth from Poland, Belgium, and the United States.

Among the main sources of passengers, the United Kingdom positioned itself as the leader with approximately 2.7 million passengers, representing 23.9% of the total arrivals. It was followed by Germany and Italy, with 1.5 million and 1.1 million passengers, respectively. Regarding the autonomous communities, Catalonia led in the number of arrivals, followed by the Community of Madrid and the Balearic Islands.
