Last Friday, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic received a visit from Ángela Medina, producer of the film Day Eight: The Breath of the Spirit, along with actresses Angelina Monegro and Marta González, after the packed premiere of the film in Madrid.

The meeting was attended by the minister counselors Esmeldy Belliard, second head of mission, and Aralís Rodríguez, head of the Cultural Section of the Embassy, as part of the institutional work to support Dominican cinema and its international projection.

Inspired by the life of Canadian priest Emiliano Tardif, known for his healing gifts, this film tells the story of Yira Sandoval, a young influencer who undergoes a process of personal transformation due to her sister’s illness and her encounter with faith.

The film will hit theaters in Spain on May 8, distributed by Goya Producciones and Edreams Factory.

Dominican cinema continues to strengthen its presence on international stages, taking its stories beyond its borders. New productions such as Sanky Panky 4: on safari stand out, along with the impact of new filmmakers at international festivals, including local events like CLUFEST 2026 and the “Made in RD” Film Festival. The industry has generated over 25,000 jobs and attracted millions in investments.
