The Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid (Doctor Mata street, 2) will be the venue tomorrow Thursday, June 11 at 7 PM for the piano concert of the young Czech Matyáš Novák. Free entry until full capacity.

Matyáš Novák will present the project Smetana Reborn, dedicated to Má vlast (My Homeland) by Bedřich Smetana. The concert is part of the 2nd edition of the Czech-Spanish Days and will offer an exceptional interpretation of this emblematic symphonic cycle in the little-known version for two-hand piano made by the Czech virtuoso pianist Jindřich Kàan.

Composed between 1874 and 1879, Má vlast is one of the fundamental works of Czech music and traverses landscapes, legends, and historical images of Bohemia. While the four-hand piano version is widely known and performed, Kàan’s adaptation for two-hand piano stands out for its extraordinary musical richness and its enormous technical and expressive demands, rivaling the best piano transcriptions of Franz Liszt.

Matyáš Novák is one of the most promising pianists of his generation thanks to his extraordinary harmonic sensitivity, broad repertoire, and excellent technique. At the age of ten, he made his first appearance with an orchestra, at nineteen he debuted at Carnegie Hall, and at twenty he presented a solo recital at the Prague Spring Festival. His extraordinary musical talent is evident not only from the numerous awards he has won in national and international competitions but also from the fact that at his young age he has in his repertoire forty concertos with orchestra and hundreds of compositions for solo piano. His most recent achievement is the award for reaching the finals of the 20th International Piano Competition of Santander (Spain) in 2022.
