Concierto con motivo del 250 aniversario de la independencia de Estados Unidos

Next Friday, July 10 at 6 PM, Casa América presents in its Gabriela Mistral Amphitheater a commemorative concert on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, organized in collaboration with the Madrid Association of Composers (AMCC). Free entry until full capacity is reached.

The program will bring together works by composers linked to different musical traditions of the Atlantic realm and will offer a journey that combines 20th-century repertoire with contemporary creation.

The concert will be performed by Sonor Ensemble, a group made up of Jesús Ángel León (violin), Luminita Nenita (violin), Joaquín Arias (viola), José María Mañero (cello), Barbara Veiga (double bass), Sebastián Mariné (piano) and the guest flutist Katrina Penman. The musical direction will be in charge of Luis Aguirre.

The program will include works by George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, Yvonne Freckmann, Katrina Penman and Flores Chaviano. Among the planned pieces are Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, Ukelele Serenade by Copland, a premiere work composed especially for this occasion, To Andalusia and Beyond by Katrina Penman and Con-nuo y toque de comparsa by Flores Chaviano.

This concert proposes a meeting between repertoires, styles, and musical traditions that engage with the transatlantic cultural context and commemorate a significant anniversary in the history of the United States.
