EFE Tribune – Casa de América with economist and historian Leonardo Lomelí

Tribune EFE - Casa de América with the economist and historian Leonardo Lomelí.

Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, Mexican economist and historian and current rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Next Wednesday, April 22 at 11 a.m., Casa América will celebrate its EFE Forum in its Simón Bolívar Room, this time with Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas, Mexican economist and historian and current rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) since November 2023.

Leonardo Lomelí holds a degree in Economics and a master’s and doctorate in History from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In 2002, he received the Alfonso Caso Medal for his Master’s studies and also obtained second place in the Jesús Silva Herzog Award from the Institute of Economic Research of UNAM. In 2006, he received the National University Distinction Recognition for Young Academics in the Area of Teaching in Economic-Administrative Sciences and, in 2009, the same recognition in the Area of Research in Economic Administrative Sciences. He is the author of four books and coordinator and co-author of several more.

He is also a full-time professor at the Faculty of Economics of UNAM, of which he was director from 2010 to 2015 and a member of the National System of Researchers of Mexico (SNII) at level II.

The general director of Casa de América, León de la Torre, will present the event, in which Emilia Pérez, director of International at the EFE Agency, will interview the Mexican economist.

Casa de América and the EFE Agency launched the EFE Forums – Casa de América in 2006, a space for reflection and debate with the main personalities of the political, economic, and social current affairs of Ibero-American countries.
