The Ministry of Industry and Tourism, through the State Secretariat of Tourism, has granted the title of International Tourist Interest Festival to the Moors and Christians of Elda, in Alicante. This distinction recognizes the antiquity, continuity, cultural value, and tourist appeal of the celebration, as well as the diversity and originality of the events that compose it, in addition to its deep roots in the locality.

Rosario Sánchez Grau, Secretary of State for Tourism, expressed her gratitude to the citizens of Elda for their commitment to this unique celebration, which each year attracts thousands of visitors eager to experience firsthand the exciting events that reflect the cultural richness of Spain. With this new declaration, Elda becomes the 16th locality in the Valencian Community to receive this distinction and the 89th in the whole country.

The festivities take place over five days around the first Sunday of June and include highlighted events such as the Entrance of Bands, the Children’s Parade, and the Moorish and Christian Entries. One of the most representative moments is the Embassies, theatrical representations that symbolize the confrontation between Moors and Christians. In addition, the festive atmosphere is enriched by music, with a Festival Music Contest that this year reaches its 38th edition, consolidating the musical heritage that accompanies all the events.
