This afternoon at 6:30 PM, the Instituto Italiano de Cultura of Madrid (calle Mayor, 86) will host the presentation of the volume Il Palazzo di Abrantes. L’Istituto Italiano di Cultura a Madrid, by professors Calogero Bellanca and Susana Mora Alonso-Munoyerro.

The meeting will represent an important opportunity to delve into the history, architectural value, and cultural role of one of the symbolic places of the Italian presence in Spain: the Palace of Abrantes, home of the Institute.

The volume reconstructs the history of the building and its connection with Italian diplomacy and culture in Madrid, offering a rich and documented view of its artistic and institutional heritage.

Participants will include the Italian ambassador, Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi; the director of the Instituto Italiano de Cultura of Madrid, Elena Fontanella; the director of the collection “Carlo Colombo di Roma”, Gaetano Cortese; the academic architect of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Antonio Almagro Gorbea; professor Calogero Bellanca, from the “La Sapienza” University of Rome; and professor Susana Mora Alonso-Munoyerro, from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The event is part of the program of initiatives dedicated to enhancing Italian cultural heritage abroad and fostering dialogue between Italy and Spain. The volume enriches the collection dedicated to Italian embassies and residences directed by ambassador Gaetano Cortese.
