In a few days, the Palestinian diplomat, political scientist, and writer Fadi Elhusseini will take up his position as the new ambassador of the State of Palestine to Spain, taking Husni Abdel Wahed’s place.

A Palestinian diplomat, political scientist, and writer born in Gaza on October 21, 1975, Elhusseini has held various positions in the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has also served in Palestinian embassies and diplomatic missions in Turkey, Egypt, and Canada, and is currently serving as the ambassador of the State of Palestine in Hungary.

He is a board member and associate researcher (ESRC) at the Institute for Middle East Studies Canada, former senior researcher at the Centre on Governance at the University of Ottawa, and a member of the advisory board of the New Arab Foundation. He is also a frequent columnist and media analyst on platforms such as Raseef22 and e-International Relations.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Cairo (Egypt), a master’s degree in International Trade from ISUFI at the University of Lecce (Italy), and a PhD in International Relations and History from the University of Sunderland (United Kingdom).

Dr. Fadi Elhusseini has lectured on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and events in the Middle East, and has participated in academic conferences in Poland, the United Kingdom, Italy, the United States, and Canada. Additionally, he speaks several foreign languages.

As personal data, it is noteworthy that his father, Faisal Elhusseini, is a lawyer in Palestine who has been arrested twice by Israeli authorities, and his grandfather, Hamdi Elhusseini, is a Palestinian intellectual. The new Palestinian ambassador to Spain is married to Nisreen and has two children: Faisal and Faris.

In 2025, during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Hungary, Elhusseini criticized the Hungarian government for not arresting Netanyahu, who has an arrest warrant from the ICC against him for his military action in Gaza.
